Eastern Montana Big Game Hunting

I drove to eastern Montana to my brother and sister-in laws (Bill & Megan Dawson) place and my buddy from Ohio (Marty Bell) flew in to meet me to hunt for four days. We did not take any antelope but I did shoot my first white tail and did get a mule deer as well. Marty did get a nice mule deer as well. We actually butchered all of the meat ourselves. This is something that I've wanted to learn how to do and Bill was patient enough to teach me. What an experience it was. If you ever get a chance to go to eastern Montana, do so. It is a unique and peaceful place.

Yampa Camping Trip

Megan and I were joined by our friends Rod/Nicky (been camping with them for five years now), Jenny (our accountant) and newcomers, Robert and his twelve year old son Kirby. Megan is really getting her energy back. We went on an intense 15 mile ATV ride to a lake on the top of a mountain on Saturday and then on Sunday, went on a 3 hour hike. Sad that it was the last trip of the year but thankful to have the opportunity to enjoy such a great area of Colorado for four days. Wow!

Tin Cup Camping Trip

This is the second time we've been to Tin Cup. We camp at the base of Mt. Princeton. I went on a 50 mile ATV ride and really enjoyed the quiet while Megan, Trish and Casey hung out at camp and talked.

Twin Lakes Camping Trip

If you've followed our blog at all, you know that we camp Twin Lakes every year (except when Megan has kidney transplants). What's not to love about this amazing place in Colorado. I look forward to this trip each year.

Party at Lake w/ Hunting Crew

I've been bird hunting with the same group now for 7 years. The group of guys has grown quite a bit and it's been a lot of fun getting to know the guys and their families. We're all pretty close. Today we went to get together with everyone at one of the guys' lake homes. These guys are truly the salt of the earth. I am very fortunate to call them friends. Below is a picture of the kids playing with Jazz and all of the other bird dogs that have a second job as family pets. Megan and Julie are never too far apart when the hunting gang get together.

Rockies Game

As if going to the lake with friends wasn't enough for a day, Megan and I went to watch our beloved Colorado Rockies play ball. The Rocks with a nice cold Coors Light and Megan sitting next to me is hard to beat. If only I could make money spending my time this way!

You can't beat a Storm Lake Iowa 4th! We had so much fun with all of the Buckendahl side. I just wish it could be an every year type of thing. So many memories as a kid came to mind as I watched the Tammy and Dawn's kids enjoying the festivities.

College National Final Rodeo

Megan, Melissa and Brody drove up to Casper to meet family to watch Brian ride in the College National Final Rodeo. Brian ended up placing 13th. Congratulations Brian! We are so proud!

Our Indy Friends

Right now Steph and Josh live in Indianapolis but who know's where they'll be next. What we do know is that these two will always make it a point to visit the Buckendahl's in Denver. Wish we could see them more but boy is it fun when they are in town. Josh is a frigin hoot!

Avery Mae Biggins First Birthday

The picture is one of many, many times Brody scored goals in his first year of soccer. If he keeps it up, Paul and Melissa won't have to worry about college because scholarships will be coming. Seriously, it's as if he is an adult on the field with 5 year olds.

Brody's Fifth Birthday

Seems like yesterday, we were at his first birthday! Sure has been fun watching this little guy grow up. It helps that he totally adores his neighbors.

Kaci's Birthday - Lunch in Estes Park

This year for Kaci's birthday, we decided to drive up to Estes to eat at a local pub. It was a great meal and a lot of fun with friends but I also got to see quite a few elk.

Tree Trimming in Kansas w/ Hunting Group

As an excuse to get out of the city and onto the farm, we all went to the main farm of our "Kansas Connection" to help them trim up their trees after a harsh winter. This is the second time we've done this and boy was it work but what a good time catching up with Junior and Ann. I miss them in the summer so much and I think they miss all of us too. Also, very happy that Megan got to join us this year. It was the first time she has meet Junior and Ann.

San Francisco & Redding California

I went to San Francisco for a week to drum up some business and Megan joined me for a couple of days. We stayed in San Fran for one night and then drove to Redding for a couple of nights with Darren, Pilar and Preston. If you look close, you can see the Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling shirt we got him. This will cause some issues for Darren because of his Oklahoma State past. Sorry buddy but I couldn't refuse. I hope Preston chooses the Hawks!

Easter 2009

It has become a tradition where my sister's come to Denver with all of the kids to celebrate. This year Dad also joined them. We had a blast. I gave so many rides on my Quad that we practically wore out the tires. Seriously. Driving on concrete kills the tires but how can you resist the kids wanting a ride?

Montana Trip

We went back to Montana to see Bill and Megan's baby (Malaya) for the first time. We spent time with a lot of family and also got to watch Brian ride pro rodeo. He did very good this night and placed fourth.

Reeeeaaaady... Wrestle!

Brody (Paul & Melissa's / neighbors) son stayed the night. We had a ball but this night will stand out not only because it was his first sleep over at our house but because it was his first wrestling lesson. I would love it if Brody decided to wrestle but not sure the Foote's would be too happy.
